“Direct Action, Direct Care” Street Medic Workshop

Members of AFT Connecticut-affiliated Higher Education, PreK-12, Public Employee and PSRP unions are invited to attend this new safety course focused on direct action, protest and civil disobedience preparation.* Participants will learn the essential skills to provide emergency medical care in high-stress environments. The session will cover:

  • the role of street medics;
  • understanding the Good Samaritan law;
  • emergency planning; 
  • adult first aid for common protest injuries;
  • triage and patient assessment;
  • teamwork, buddy systems & scene safety.

Snacks provided. Participants are advised to dress comfortably.

* This course is not applicable for members of Healthcare unions.
