Each year, the AFT Connecticut Scholarship Program awards two types of grants that provide funding to eligible members as well as their dependents. The account is funded by the state federation and additionally supported by donations from local unions as well as the family of former president George Springer, Sr.
Those eligible for Sharon M. Palmer Scholarships include members’ spouses or domestic partners, as well as their children or grandchildren. The George C. Springer Scholarships are open to members to further their own educational pursuits.
Applications are due April 1, 2026 (via email or postmarked). Program guidelines and criteria (Jan., 2016 update) are available for review.
Once applications are received, the Scholarship Committee will convene and make recommendations to the Executive Committee for review, debate and adoption.
