Hartford Paraeducators’ “Reading Opens the World”

Members of our AFT Connecticut-affiliated unions representing paraeducators in Hartford Public Schools are teaming up with their colleagues to bring new books to local children. Several community organizations and local businesses are also co-sponsoring the event. Together they are partnering with First Book, an international non-profit social enterprise dedicated to provide brand new, free, and low-cost reading material to kids from low-income families. 

Members, parents and advocates are also encouraged to volunteer beforehand and during the event with sorting and distribution.
