“Protect Our Kids & Communities” Legislative Action Virtual Town Hall

Members of all AFT Connecticut-affiliated local unions and chapters are invited to this virtual session in order to learn how federal legislation passed in mid-2025 threatens Connecticut communities. Language in the budgetary reconciliation spending package allows state elected officials to divert funds, reduce enrollment and weaken accountability in PreK-12 public schools. If the governor adopts this poison pill the White House slipped in to the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” students’ learning opportunities will be harmed.

Speakers will address how vouchers will leave kids with higher needs behind, create financial strain and shift focus from universal access to restricted schools managed by unacconatble privatize organizations.
