Private Equity Legislative Forum
Members of AFT Connecticut-affiliated unions and chapters are invited to this discussion of the damage caused by private equity to hospitals, nursing homes housing and other sectors in the state. These investment funds typically buy companies using debt-financed acquisitions, restructure them to maximize their profit margins, and attempt to sell them to the highest bidder within three to five years.
The keynote will be presented by author Megan Greenwell, and additional speakers include Connecticut lawmakers, local officials, researchers and people impacted by private equity.
AFT Connecticut is co-sponsoring the event with Connecticut Citizen Action Group (CCAG), Connecticut for All (CTFA), CHCA District 1199 and Connecticut Voices for Children.
