AFT Immigration Enforcement Urgent Town Hall

Members of AFT-affiliated unions across the country are invited to attend an emergency town hall addressing alarming recent changes in federal immigration policies. The purpose is to plan a collective response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers entering workplaces – schools and healthcare facilities – to arrest and detain students, patients and family members without documentation.

Speakers include:

• National Immigration Law Center Deputy Counsel Nicholas Espiritu
• The Dream.US President Gaby Pacheco
• Moms Rising CEO Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner

Agenda includes:

• Examination of the harmful consequences of rescinding the sensitive locations/protected areas memo;
• Discussing impact of the new president’s mass deportation agenda on schools and hospitals;
• Guidance on what to do when federal agents show up at these critical community spaces; &
• Review of AFT’s campaign to ensure schools and hospitals remain safe and welcoming places for all.
