This is not the right time for more of the same over-promising and under-delivering that we’ve seen from charter schools in Hartford and across Connecticut. According to a recent national study, two-thirds of charter schools are performing worse or the same as traditional neighborhood schools.
As teachers and faculty committed to educating all our community’s kids, we know that closing neighborhood schools in order to expand another charter is disruptive for students, a false choice for parents, and a bad investment for the Capitol City.
