“We continue to welcome the workgroups the governor is establishing to study implementation of the Common Core State Standards. We have long said that all stakeholders need to understand how these standards should work before we make them count.
“And we support the new teacher evaluation flexibility options the governor and legislative leaders last month proposed and the Performance Evaluation Advisory Council (PEAC) has since adopted. This much-needed course correction recognizes that teachers, classroom support staff and administrators need greater flexibility in adapting to changes in the way we are educating students here in Connecticut.
“Going forward, our focus will be to ensure that the voices of educators are heard as these important discussions take place.
“As with any public hearing on issues that impact our members and their communities, we will be sure that they are represented.”
