PSRPs work as paraprofessionals, teaching assistants, tutors, secretaries, school nurses, custodians and others who provide critical services that support student learning. From contract negotiations to professional development, AFT Connecticut works to secure the pay, benefits, conditions and respect they deserve as both professionals and “the engine that keeps their schools running.”

Recovery from the Great Recession of 2008 has been prolonged and uneven for all working people in America, particularly those employed by private, non-profit organizations. Members of AFT Connecticut-affiliated locals have over the past decade in contrast progressed more rapidly and benefited more fully from the improved economy. We're highlighting two recent collective bargaining wins that effectively demonstrate "the union difference" for this sector's otherwise vulnerable workforce.
