Fight for $15 and a Union Labor Day Actions
Date:
Mon, 09/04/2017 - 7:00am - 10:30am
AFT Connecticut has supported this effort over the past three years because many of our own members -- particularly those who work in healthcare and deliver school support services -- struggle on hourly wages that are less than $15.00. Additionally the labor movement must "raise the floor" for the working poor and at the same time organize the un-organized workforce in the U.S. to revitalize our nation's shrinking middle-class.
Actions scheduled (be sure to wear your AFT union apparel and bring your union banners):
- 7:00AM - demonstration at McDonald's on Albany Ave. in the North End in support of striking fast food workers;
- 8:00AM - rally & march to Community Health Services (CHS) with rally to demand fairness; &
- 9:00AM - march to Center Church for program & breakfast.
Note: program and breakfast location changed from Christ Chuch Cathedral.
