Workplace Violence Prevention for Healthcare Workers

This workshop on union approaches to 
preventing workplace violence is available for members of local affiliated unions to AFT Connecticut's Nurses & Healthcare Professionals Council. Our labor federation has been a leader in getting some of the country’s strongest laws enacted in worker health and safety and workplace violence prevention. The challenge has been to guarantee that employers are implementing mandated programs and our affiliated local unions are playing a major role in that endeavor.

    • What are the strengths and weakness of CT’s current laws in comparison to other National examples?
    • Info on the felony law and advice on creating partnerships with police and district attorneys
  • Strategies for Change
    • What strategies exist to address these safety issues at the state and local level?
    • How to use existing laws and hospital committees to address safety issues

    • A union of professionals: Advocating for professional change
