Hartford Teachers Support Effort to Prevent "Hostile Take-Over" of Community School

Hartford - Education professionals are pledging support for the community in response to the announced "redesign" and hand-over of John C. Clark, Jr. Elementary and Middle School to a charter operator. Hartford Public Schools' teachers, paraeducators, and classroom instruction support personnel on Monday and yesterday attended meetings with families of the students they serve at the school. There they committed to partner with parents to help elevate their voices and ensure that they maintain and continue growing the school’s well-rounded program of academics and enrichment opportunities.

Sign the Petition to the Hartford BOE: No to Another Charter’s False Choices

The Hartford Board of Education is expected to vote on August 27 to allow a charter school outfit with a poor disciplinary record to expand in the local district. Connecticut Working Families and concerned parents recently launched a petition drive to urge the board to say “NO” to Achievement First taking-over another one of their community’s elementary schools. We need to help them make their voices heard.
