Helping Members Beat Inflation with "Dollars in their Pockets"

The negotiating table continues to be where labor and management can find the common ground necessary to plug retention shortfalls and close nagging recruitment gaps impacting nearly all industries. Numerous affiliated local unions from across our state federation have for the past three months focused efforts on this shared objective. Our latest collective bargaining report highlights a recent contract victory where members tapped the power of "Union YES" to secure immediate gains and build momentum for future progress.

Braving the Elements to Lock In "What Matters Most"

The ongoing COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) crisis meant that the majority of local unions' collective bargaining efforts over the summer focused on negotiating narrow pandemic-related agreements. 'How-To' Manual on Expanded Learning Time Released

Lessons learned from a successful initiative to expand learning time at schools in Meriden can help other unions work with districts to significantly increase opportunities for at-risk students. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) today released a handbook, "It's About Time" that explains how three elementary schools' use of time was redesigned.

Celebrating Paraprofessional Appreciation Day

Members of local AFT unions in our Paraprofessionals and School-Related Personnel (PSRP) Council were invited to attend the celebration and hear the governor say, "I support you."
