"Red for Ed" Lobby Day for PreK-12 Teachers & PSRPs

Members of AFT Connecticut-affiliated unions representing PreK-12 educators and paraprofessionals and school-related personnel (PSRP) are invited to participate in this coordinated lobby day to meet lawmakers considering several relevant proposals. The event is being spearheaded by our labor allies in the Connecticut Education Association (CEA).

 

This is an opportunity to share how students and those who teach and support them are struggling with poor indoor air quality. It’s also a chance to help legislators understand the pandemic’s impact on the profession - specifically the challenges raised by "dual teaching" (simultaneous online and in-person instruction). Additionally it's a chance to advocate for retirement credit recognizing the risks and sacrifices educators have made over the past two years.

 

AFT Connecticut’s legislative advocates will be on hand to help identify elected representatives. Members are encouraged to wear red and bring at least one colleague to help pass proposed legislative initiatives into law.
