SUMMARY:Unemployment Insurance for Striking Workers Lobby Day
DESCRIPTION:\nMembers of AFT Connecticut-affiliated unions are invited to participate in this effort coordinated  by the state’s labor movement aimed at passing legislation extending  unemployment benefits to striking workers. The proposal would level the playing field for union members standing up to employers who refuse to resolve disputes at the bargaining table.\n\n\n\nAFT Connecticut’s legislative advocates will be on hand to help identify elected representatives. Members are encouraged to bring at least one colleague to help pass the proposed legislation into law and further empower union members to exercise their legal right to strike.\n\n\n\nClick here to register to participate and receive updates.\n\n\n\nFree parking can be found in the parking garage next to the Legislative Office Building located at 300 Capitol Avenue in Hartford. Just enter “Legislative Office Building” into your GPS. Once through security, please contact AFT Connecticut legislative staff Jim Vigue (860) 638-8611 for further directions.\n\n\n\nNote: if the first floor of the parking garage is full, there is additional parking on the basement level. \n\n\n\nClick here to  urge your legislator support allow striking workers to access unemployment benefits.\n\n\n\nHB-5164-Lobby-Day ( https://aftct.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HB-5164-Lobby-Day.pdf )Download\n
