DESCRIPTION:\nNote: end time approximate; convention adjourned once all pending business complete.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe tentative agenda for our state federation’s annual business convention is linked below (in “First Call to Convention” packet) and may be further revised. Schedule will include votes on properly proposed amendments to AFT Connecticut’s bylaws, constitution and resolutions.\n\n\n\nNew this year to the agenda is a “Scholarship Fundraising Mixer” following the conclusion of convention business at Foxwoods’ Vue 24. The annual awards ceremony will also be held during this time. Cost to attend is $35 each (separate from the $115 delegate and guest registration fee).\n\n\n\nDeadlines for proposed constitutional amendments, resolutions and award nominations follow:     \n\n\n\n\nApr 01 2024 – proposed amendments to the AFT Connecticut Constitution\n\n\n\nApr 01 2024 – nominations for the Joseph H. Soifer Award and the Unionist of the Year\n\n\n\nMay 01 2024 – proposed dues related amendments to the AFT Connecticut Constitution    \n\n\n\nMay 11 2024 – resolutions for consideration by Convention delegates\n\n\n\nMay 28 2024 – COPE raffle donations and form\n\n\n\n\nDeadline is May 17 2024 (subject to further change) for participating local unions to submit the following (applicable documents, below) to AFT Connecticut (via email or postal mail):\n\n\n\n\nCredentials;\n\n\n\nLocal dues (paid through March 2024);\n\n\n\nNames and addresses of local’s principal executive and financial officers;\n\n\n\nNames and addresses of local’s current executive board members;\n\n\n\nLocal’s full membership roster (excel spreadsheet, preferred);\n\n\n\nCopy of local’s current constitution; &\n\n\n\nCopy of local’s audit/review/internal review/financial statement compilation.\n\n\n\n\nLocal leaders can determine if they are in good standing by reviewing the “Is Your Local in Good Standing?” document included in “First Call” packet (below).\n\n\n\n“First Call to Convention” packet (Mar. 5, 2024)\n\n\n\nConvention awards nomination forms (Mar. 5, 2024)\n\n\n\nAFT COPE raffle info & donation form (Mar. 26, 2024)\n\n\n\n“Writing Our Own Future” packet (Mar 27, 2024) \n\n\n\nLocal union officers, board members & delegates form (Mar. 27, 2024)\n\n\n\nLocal union delegates form (Mar. 27, 2024)\n\n\n\nLocal union alternates & guests form (Mar. 27, 2024)\n
