Paraeducators "Living Wage" Capitol News Briefing - RESCHEDULED

Date:
Mon, 03/20/2023 - 11:00am - 11:30am
Note: rescheduled from original Wed, 03/15/2023 data; start time has been confirmed.

Members of AFT Connecticut-affiliated paraprofessional and school-related personnel (PSRP) unions are invited to join labor leaders, parents, education advocates and elected leaders to announce policies aimed at the student learning crisis. This action is an important next step in moving lawmakers to adopt proposals addressing low wages, lack of access to professional development, affordable healthcare and retirement security for paraeducators.

The event follows the legislature's first public hearing on a comprehensive proposal advocated by a coalition of unions representing paras, including those in AFT Connecticut. Members are encouraged to submit written testimony ahead of the raised bill's Mon, 03/27/2023 deadline for action by the education committee.

Free parking available in the adjacent garage (and on-street if at capacity).
