AFT Connecticut represents thousands of public employees in nearly all agencies in Connecticut’s Executive and Judicial branches, as well as the Office of Higher Education. Our members provide a diverse range of vital services; healthcare, vocational education, financial management and planning, probation and child support enforcement, higher education administration and faculty, banking and fiscal regulation, forensic investigations and analysis, and facilities inspection and enforcement.

AFT Announces 2014 Everyday Heroes

AFT has announced its 2014 "Everyday Heroes" after a nationwide nomination and voting process. Nine extraordinary women and men -- including four of our own AFT Connecticut-affiliated union members -- will be honored at the AFT's national convention in Los Angeles this July.
 
 

State Workers to Expand Wellness Program, Build on "Collaboration" to Achieve Savings

Hartford - Connecticut public service professionals today announced efforts to expand the Health Enhancement Program (HEP) to the state's municipalities and school districts through public education and engagement of local elected officials. A $25,000.00 "Solution-Driven Unionism" grant awarded in October by AFT to their Connecticut affiliate in recognition of the innovative employee wellness plan will help fund the campaign. The goal is to empower communities across Connecticut to model the negotiations between the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) and Governor Dannel P. Malloy that produced the HEP. 
 

AFT Connecticut Wins National AFT Prize for Solution-Driven Unionism

Rocky Hill - The American Federation of Teachers’ Connecticut affiliate has won the national union’s inaugural Prize for Solution-Driven Unionism for its work in protecting the jobs and benefits of state workers, while saving the state a projected $1.6 billion, AFT President Randi Weingarten announced today.
