Ed was elected to serve as AFT Connecticut officer’s secretary/treasurer in 2012 in a special election to fill the position and was re-elected again in 2013 and 2015. Per the federation’s Constitution & Bylaws, Ed acts as the chief fiscal officer and is responsible for the safekeeping and accounting of funds and financial obligations, including the annual audit.
Ed currently serves as the president of the State Vocational Federation of Teachers (SVFT), which includes the educators and support personnel in the Connecticut State Technical High School System (CTHSS). He previously held the offices of treasurer and executive representative for the affiliated local union and was active on its Labor-Management Committee and in a variety of political and legislative activities.
In addition to his union activism, Ed has held a variety of leadership roles in the CTHSS, including summer school supervisor, attendance officer, durational department head and adult education supervisor. He has taught English at Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport since 1985.
Ed resides in East Haven.
