Every year Connecticut needs hundreds of new licensed practical nurses for our nursing homes and hospitals. Julie Marzano and the other LPN instructors are teaching those new LPNs in the state vocational technical high school adult education program.

“I’ve been teaching new LPNs for 13 years,” says Julie. “Our program has been around for 70 years and we train great nurses every year. All of our instructors are masters level prepared and we stay with the program.”

The LPN adult education program offers people an affordable opportunity at an important career, but this program is being threatened by state budget cuts, and was already shut down once costing our state nurses.

State employees like Julie Marzano are vital to Connecticut’s public health. We need to keep them doing work that matters.
