AFT CT 71st Annual Business Convention

IB ImageOur state federation's 71st annual business convention will convene promptly at 9:00AM. Registration, along with a buffet breakfast, will open at 8:00AM.

Event will feature a silent auction to benefit our AFT Committee on Political Education (COPE). Donations of gift cards or baskets, theater or spa tickets, sports memorabilia and other items of value are tax deductible and will benefit our state federation's legislative and political efforts.
The John J. Driscoll United Labor Agency will also be on hand to accept donations for their "Labor of Love" backpack drive. The effort provide students in Hartford, Hamden and Milford with healthy snacks and school supplies.
Note: important deadlines for convention participants (applicable documents linked below):
  • March 12 - submission of PROPOSED AMENDMENTS (other than those that are DUES RELATED) to the AFT Connecticut Constitution.
  • April 2 (postmarked) - submission of NOMINATIONS for the Joseph H. Soifer Award and the Unionist of the Year.
  • April 12 - submission of PROPOSED DUES-RELATED AMENDMENTS to the AFT Connecticut Constitution.
  • April 20 - submission of RESOLUTIONS for consideration by Convention delegates.
  • April 27 - submission of LOCAL REGISTRATION ASSISTANCE form to request subsidized registration fees.
  • May 2 - submission of certified DELEGATE and ALTERNATE credentials and GUESTS list.
  • May 8 - submission of SILENT AUCTION DONATION form.
Also note: local union dues to AFT Connecticut must be paid through at least April, 2018 (must be received at state federation headquarters by April 27) in order for their delegates to be seated (see additional pertinent language from the AFT Connecticut Constitution, linked below).
